100 Days...yes, I'm counting!

Today marks exactly one hundred days until I depart for New Zealand! Exciting times. I have decided to fly directly into a town called Dunedin on the southeast coast, where I'll stay for a couple days to do some sightseeing and organise a few things I cannot do outside of NZ.

I'm quickly discovering there is no shortage of awesome things to see and do throughout New Zealand. In between work and sleep, I've been focusing on the logistics and activity research of all the places I'll be passing through or will be sidetracking to. Route planning is also coming along: because I'm walking northbound and part of the trail for the North Island is a river section that flows in the opposite direction to what I will be travelling, I'll be taking a different route, which will lead up to Taupo and Rotorua before I make my way back to the trail. I'll share more information once it is finalised.

It's absolutely awesome that the fundraising total is already up to $710 - and it's still over 3 months before I leave! That's pretty rad if you ask me. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Lastly, today's blog picture is of the gear I'll be wearing/carrying with me, although it's now a bit outdated as I'm forever refining how everything is packed and trying to reduce weight. I'll take an updated picture of the gear closer to the departure date, but for now the above room shall stay in a catastrophically messy state.
